My time at The Noun Project in Los Angeles, CA, from April 2014 onwards was a transformative journey in the tech industry. Starting as a design intern, I quickly advanced through various roles, including junior designer, junior interaction designer, and finally, product designer.

Initially, my responsibilities centered around moderating and curating the icons submitted to the platform. However, I yearned to expand my horizons and delve into UX/UI design for the platform. Recognizing my determination and potential, the team offered me a full-time position after just two months into my internship, allowing me to split my time between moderation and designing experiences.

Driven by a desire to solve problems for icon designers, I eventually facilitated the hiring of a full-time moderator, enabling me to focus solely on product design. Among my early accomplishments was the creation of creator guidelines, which remain accessible even after nine years. Additionally, I improved the icon submission flow, streamlining the process for creators to submit individual icons or collections for download.

As my journey progressed, I dedicated my efforts to enhancing the creator side of the platform. This included designing the dashboard, royalties view for icon designers. As well as assisting in the design of our native Mac app landing page and desktop app experience.

Towards the end of my tenure at The Noun Project, the platform witnessed significant growth, expanding from 10,000 icons to nearly 300,000 in just 2.5 years. However, this surge presented a challenge of effectively managing the ever-increasing content. One of my most notable achievements was collaborating with an engineering partner to develop a new moderation tool from scratch. This tool revolutionized the moderation process, increasing efficiency by 200%. As a result, the platform seamlessly scaled from 300,000 icons to over a million in less than six months.
Today, The Noun Project boasts an impressive collection of over 3 million icons, with hundreds of millions of downloads, tens of millions of customers, and more than 20,000 icon designers worldwide. My time at The Noun Project not only fueled my growth as a product designer but also allowed me to contribute to a creative revolution that continues to empower individuals with a visual language understood across borders.
