During my time at Cozy, based in Portland, OR, from November 2016 to November 2018, I had the opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading platform that revolutionized rental property management for independent property managers and small-time landlords. Cozy offered a range of tools and services, including listing creation, applicant screening, rent collection, expense management, and maintenance request facilitation – all at no cost to the users. The platform gained significant popularity in Portland and other parts of the West Coast, eventually leading to its acquisition by Apartments.com in the fall of 2018.

Joining Cozy as their second full-time design hire, I played a crucial role in shaping the product's user experience. Our target audience consisted of individuals who managed rental units part-time, such as those who had purchased additional investment properties or inherited them while maintaining full-time jobs. Renters invited to use Cozy had access to a range of features, including automatic monthly payments, maintenance request submissions, and the ability to purchase renter's insurance directly through the platform.

During my tenure, I primarily focused on Cozy's payment products, including the rental ledger, Cozy Pay (an online rent payment pathway), and automatic payment functionalities. Additionally, I led the design efforts for the platform's core discovery features, such as listing exploration and messaging landlords.
